Gypsum ceilings can do much more than hide services. Used carefully, they can shape a room, create cleaner lighting and add architectural detail without making the space feel heavy.
Recessed lighting
One of the most common uses is to integrate downlights neatly into a ceiling. Planning the electrical layout at the same time as the gypsum work helps achieve a cleaner result.
Concealed LED lighting
LED strips can be incorporated into recesses or perimeter details to create softer indirect lighting. The effect works particularly well in living rooms, bedrooms, halls and entertainment areas.
Soffits and feature zones
Gypsum can visually separate areas in an open-plan room or create a feature over a dining table, kitchen island or seating area.
Keep proportions in mind
Not every room benefits from a complicated ceiling. The best design usually considers ceiling height, natural light, furniture layout and the overall style of the property.
